Karl Lagerfeld is to create four limited-edition T-shirts inspired by himself.

The CHANEL creative director is to collaborate with British brand I Love Dust to co-design the garments for both men and women under his Karl label, with patterns featuring letters making up his face and designs taking inspiration from a sketch of a leather glove.

Mark Graham, founder of I Love Dust, said: ''Designing limited-edition T-shirts for someone like Karl Lagerfeld is every graphic designer's dream.''

The T-shirts will be available to purchase on his KARL website and at a pop-up store in New York as well as Colette in Paris from Thursday (31.05.12).

The 78-year-old fashion designer has previously collaborated with Diet Coke, H&M and Net-a-Porter throughout his career, which has featured a number of controversies including calling British singing sensation Adele ''a little too fat'' in February, despite admitting he is a fan of her voice.

Speaking at the time, he said: ''I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.''

Karl eventually apologised for his outburst and gave the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker a collection of Chanel's bags to say sorry.
