Fresh from selling out Alexandra Palace in nine minutes flat, Foals last week found themselves nominated in the three biggest categories at 2013's Q awards. The band has been nominated for Best Live Act, Best Album (for Holy Fire) and Best Act In The World Today.
On a seemingly constant upward trajectory, last night at 5.30pm Foals were nominated another award - this time the prestigious 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prize 'Album of the Year' for their third album, Holy Fire. This is the second time the band have been nominated for this award, previously for their 2010 album Total Life Forever.
Today Foals announce the release of new single Out of the Woods, the fourth from their stand out third album Holy Fire, which will be released October 28th. On the same day the band will also release their first ever DVD titled 'Foals: Live at The Royal Albert Hall' which was recorded at London's historic venue on March 28th this year. The show, preceded by an also sold out matinee performance, sold out in less than 15 minutes, and stands as a career-defining moment for the band.
The standalone Blu-ray DVD comes with an array of additional features: Four music videos (Inhaler, My Number, Late Night & Bad Habit), Holy Fire HD audio, CCTV filming (Bad Habit, Stepson, Late Night, Milk & Black Spiders, Bluebird and Moon), Blogotheque (Late Night) sessions; a making of the album documentary entitled 'Nothing Left Unsaid' and three additional tracks @ the RAH. The Holy Fire CD/DVD deluxe comes with a making of the album documentary entitled 'Nothing Left Unsaid'. The iTunes DVD also comes with additional features: CCTV sessions (Bad Habit, Stepson, Late Night, Milk & Black Spiders, Bluebird and Moon), plus three additional tracks from the Royal Albert Hall.
Summer of 2013 has been Foals' busiest and most prolific to date. After releasing their most direct and fully realised third album 'Holy Fire' to critical acclaim in February this year (charting at number 2), the Oxford five piece have since unleashed a feverish assault on live audiences worldwide. America, Europe, Asia, Australia have all witnessed the band's electrifying live show that's earned them the reputation as the most exciting British guitar band in Britain.
Relentlessly playing to huge audiences has seen the band hit their stride in the live sphere, and subsequently won them slots high up the bill at Glastonbury (second from top, Other stage Friday night), Reading & Leeds (third from top, Main stage Saturday) and recently, their first ever UK headline slot at Latitude festival (Sunday) a position they strode into with conviction resulting in effusive praise from the critics.
