Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is scathing of couples who have a gaping age gap between them - as he insists the difference between generations is not conducive to romance.

And unlike veteran rocker Rod Stewart, 60, who is engaged to 34-year-old Penny Lancaster, the BEST OF YOU singer believes there should be no more than 10 years between lovers if their relationship is to work.

He says, "Age matters, it really does. Eight years is the max. If it's any more than 10 years, then it's a generation."
