Bruce Willis will be centre of attention at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival later this year after it was announced that 'Moonrise Kingdom,' which he stars in alongside Billy Murray, Ed Norton and Tilda Swinton, will open the 11 day event on May 16th. There are big things expected of the forthcoming movie, with Wes Anderson directing in addition to the stellar cast assembled; Anderson also co-wrote the screenplay with director Francis Ford Coppola's son Roman.
The BBC reports that the film has impressed the Cannes organisers already, describing it as a "tormented and surprising story of children and adults during the stormy days of the summer of 1965." The plot focuses on a pair of lovers who flee their town in New England, causing a local search party to try and find them. THIERRY FREMAUX, the Festival's General Delegate said of Anderson and 'Moonrise.' "Wes Anderson is one of the rising powers of American cinema, to which he brings a highly personal touch, particularly in 'Moonrise Kingdom.' [The movie is] a testimony to the creative freedom in which he continues to evolve."
2012 sees a busy year for Willis following a steadier period over the last couple. Alongside 'Moonrise Kingdom,' films that'll see the actor involved include 'The Cold Light Of Day,' 'Fire With Fire,' 'Lay The Favorite,' 'The Expendables 2,' 'G.I Joe: Retaliation' and 'Looper.'
