Revered movie director Francis Ford Coppola has stepped in to replace cancer-stricken actor Michael Douglas as the guest speaker at an upcoming brokerage convention in Hong Kong.
The Wall Street star, 65, was forced to scrap his appearance at the financial event, held by Asia's leading investment group CLSA, next week (begs13Sep10) after he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
The Godfather filmmaker Coppola has now been announced as his replacement.
Organisers say Coppola will "share his insights as a celebrated filmmaker, creative vanguard and businessman" when he addresses attendees next Wednesday (15Sep10).
