Frank Ocean Glad He Came Out As Bisexual
Frank Ocean has admitted that he's glad he came out as bisexual, the rapper and member of troupe Odd Future claiming that if he hadn't chosen to reveal the news before the release of his new album 'Channel Orange' he might never have - or he might've been found out anyway given its lyrical content.
"I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who knows when" Ocean told The Guardian. On the album, it's the track 'Nostalgia' that deals explicitly with Ocean's revelations - made in a post on his Tumblr account - that the first person he fell in love with was a boy. Speaking to the paper though Ocean has claimed he felt no fear in coming out, playing down the impact of an artist being bisexual in a strongly outwardly straight hip-hop world. "People are just afraid of things too much. Afraid of things that don't necessarily merit fear. Me putting Nostalgia out... what's physically going to happen?" The artist questioned.
"Me saying what I said on my Tumblr last week? Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I'm black. They could do the same just because I'm American" he continued. "Do you just not go outside your house? Do you not drive your car because of the statistics? How else are you limiting your life for fear?"
