Pop singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS suffers from nerves before he takes the stage and kisses pictures of his idols to bolster his confidence, according to his biographer.

MARC McCRUM says the FEEL singer's pre-performance antics seem to work because Robbie loses all his inhibitions once he starts singing.

McCrum says, "Despite all his fame, Rob's full of self-doubt. Before he goes onstage he gets very nervous. He has all these rituals to calm him down.

"He kisses photos of his heroes - MUHAMMED ALI, Frank Sinatra and Sammy DAVIS JR - and the whole team have to hug and say a prayer to ELVIS.

"But once he's out there, he's amazing and he knows how to make his fans feel loved."
