Franz Ferdinand and SNOW PATROL shared top honours at Ireland's METEOR MUSIC AWARDS in Dublin on Thursday (24FEB05) with two prizes apiece.

Northern Ireland rockers Snow Patrol were crowned Best Irish Band and won the Best Irish Album gong for their hit disc FINAL STRAW.

Singers Paddy Casey and JULIETTE TURNER took home the Best Irish Male and Best Irish Female statuettes respectively.

Best Pop Act was awarded to Irish boyband Westlife.

Scottish stars Franz Ferdinand walked away with Best International Group and Best International Album for their highly acclaimed eponymous debut, while veteran singer MORRISSEY scooped the Best International Male prize and PJ HARVEY was named Best International Female.

Rapper Snoop Dogg, Hollywood actress Juliette Lewis, Delta Goodrem, BRIAN McFADDEN, and The Killers all performed live at the star-studded bash at The Point theatre.
