Dozens of fans of British rockers Franz Ferdinand were sprayed with tear gas by police as they were locked out of a concert in Brazil, according to local reports.
Organisers of an open-air show in Sao Paolo closed the gates after thousands of youngsters unexpectedly turned up to see the Take Me Out hitmakers on Sunday (27May12).
Groups of fans attempted to scale a perimeter fence to gain access to the gig and cops allegedly used tear gas and pepper spray to beat them back, according to Folha.uol.com.
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos later took to Twitter.com to reach out to his followers over the incident, writing, "Hope any fans caught outside the gig tonight were OK and weren't hurt in this collision with the police I'm hearing about."
