Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has blasted American Idol judge Simon Cowell for filling the music industry with cr*p manufactured pop stars.

The TAKE ME OUT star is furious that Cowell encourages bland, over-managed acts with his TV talent shows American Idol and The X Factor, while talented musicians are given little encouragement.

Kapranos says, "I'm not a fan of Simon Cowell and his brand of manufactured pop.

"I hate that anyone should bow to these people. I hate these music reality shows that tell you there has to be a choreographer, a voice coach and a hair stylist. It's c**p.

"The best musicians who ever got together are just a bunch of friends who sit in a room and play music because they enjoy it."
