Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos was almost driven mad by the repetitiveness of people wishing each other 'Happy Christmas' when he worked in a store.

The Scottish rocker insists although he loves the festive period, he finds listening to people's greetings over and over again torture.

He says, "I remember working in a clothes shop in Glasgow one year. It was like water torture.

"I'm not saying I don't like Christmas, I just hate hearing 'Merry Xmas Everybody' again and again.

"Bing Crosby's HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS' too, all that stuff really gets my back up."
