Lauryn Hill has run into trouble with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).

The former Fugees star is being pursued by a Federal Court in New Jersey for not filing tax returns between 2005 and 2007 and could face up to one year in prison for each count and $300,000 in fines.

The 37-year-old singer reportedly earned $1.6 million in the time she allegedly didn't file any returns and has been scheduled to attend court on June 29, according to gossip website TMZ.

This is the latest in a series of setbacks for the singer, who split from Rohan Marley, the father of five of her children, last year following the revelation that she was expecting a child with another man.

It was recently revealed Rohan is engaged to Isabeli Fontana with the model saying: ''Rohan told me we have to return to The Roots so the marriage will last forever.''

Lauryn has also been sued in relation to her 2007 European tour for harassment and unpaid wages by Jay Gore, a guitarist in her band, who claimed she would insult the band while he toured with her.

Part of the lawsuit stated: ''After shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating.''
