Pop group Fun have achieved the near impossible and kept a surging Justin Bieber off the top of the U.S. pop charts.
The band's We Are Young anthem scores a fifth week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 as Bieber's Boyfriend debuts at two thanks to the second biggest first-week digital sales ever.
Boyfriend opens with 521,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Only Flo Rida's Right Round has debuted with more digital sales - 636,000 in 2009.
Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know jumps up a spot to three on the new countdown, changing places with British boyband The Wanted's Glad You Came.
Meanwhile, north of the border, Bieber has scored his first number one in his native Canada with Boyfriend, which debuts atop the Canadian Hot 100.
Thrilled by the chart news, Bieber's manager Scooter Braun has tweeted, "so much to be proud of with #Boyfriend - #1 digital track and most sold first week of any song in Universal Music Group History... #1 most sold first week single Worldwide Ever.
"Jb has never had a Billboard #1 single... but debuting at #2 is unheard of. We will keep going for #1 in the coming weeks."
