Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Gabriel Garcia Marquez Hospitalised
Beloved author Gabriel Garcia Marquez has been hospitalised after suffering from dehydration as he battles lung and urinary tract infections.
The 87-year-old Nobel Prize winner is currently receiving treatment at a medical centre in Mexico City, Mexico.
Officials at the country's Ministry of Health released a statement which reads: "The patient has responded to treatment. Once he's completed his course of antibiotics his discharge from the hospital will be evaluated."
In 1999, Garcia Marquez was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and later went into remission, and in 2012, his brother, Jaime Garcia Marquez, revealed his famous sibling was suffering from dementia.
The Colombia-born novelist, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, is best known for his novels One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera.
