Actor Gary Dourdan is working out a plea deal with Los Angeles prosecutors relating to an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend last year (11).
The former Csi: Crime Scene Investigation star was arrested on suspicion of felony battery charges in November (11), amid claims he had punched Nicole Cannizzaro in the face and broken her nose during a fight at a house in Venice, California.
Dourdan returned to court on Thursday (07Jun12), when his attorney John Markham told Judge James Dabney that there was a "heavy potential for disposition" to bring the case to an end, reports Eonline.com.
Prosecutors have offered the actor the chance to avoid jail and be placed on probation, as long as he enrols in and completes a treatment programme within 18 months. It is not yet known what type of treatment Dourdan will undertake.
The actor, who has been working in Germany, insists he is innocent of the charges.
He is due back in court for a status hearing on 25 June (12).
A bench warrant was issued for Dourdan's arrest last month (May12) when he missed a hearing in relation to the case, but the warrant was recalled days later when he jetted back to L.A. from Germany just in time to make a second court appearance.
