Gary Numan and rockers Gallows are among the stars of Britain's Bestival music event who have reached out to the victims of the horrific coach crash which killed three people returning home from the festival on Monday night (10Sep12).
Two festival-goers died along with the bus driver when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a tree and overturned on a busy stretch of motorway in Surrey, England during a journey back from the event on the Isle of Wight.
The survivors of the accident, most aged in their 20s, were all taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, with many suffering serious injuries, and now some of the artists who played at the festival have sent their sympathies.
Newman, who played at the event, writes in a post on Twitter.com, "Just heard about the coach crash last night that was taking people home from Bestival. What a sad & terrible thing to happen," while rock group Gallows, add, "Our thoughts go out to those who lost their lives in the Bestival bus crash and wish those injured a speedy recovery. Such a tragedy after an amazing festival."
Organisers of Bestival have moved to help relatives of those caught up in the crash by urging anyone with concerns to call the casualty bureau which has been set up.
A statement from Bestival bosses reads, "This is devastating news, our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident. We are currently liaising with Surrey Police to establish the facts... A casualty bureau number has been set up and people concerned about passengers on board the coach should call 0800 056 0154."
