Gentleman's Dub Club Announce New Single 'Riot' Out 20th May Plus UK 2013 Tour Dates

On 20th May 2013 Ranking Records present 'Riot', the new single by the hotly-tipped nine-piece Gentleman's Dub Club,  which precedes their highly-anticipated debut album 'Forty Four' this autumn.

A cavernous, booming steppers-dub-monster, 'Riot' wouldn't sound out of place shaking foundations in a channel One Sound System set, and demonstrates perfectly the band's mastery of both live instrumentation and studio wizardry, in creating a full-blooded, energized and updated take on classic Jamaican bass culture.

Spawned from the vibrant musical community in Leeds in 2006, the band cite fellow Leedsians Iration Steppas, plus Capleton, The Abyssinians, Culture, Twinkle Brothers, Wayne Smith, Augustus Pablo and Scientist as influences. But, you're just as likely to find them digging jazz, soul, garage, house, jungle or electronica, to which the various other projects the band are involved attests - most notably Submotion Orchestra drummer Tommy Evans and multi-instrumentalist/producer Toby Davies, AKA Planas.

As killer as their sound on record is however, it's only half the story, as the band are fast gaining a reputation as one of the most energetic and incendiary live bands in  the country - of any genre.

Having wowed crowds and promoters alike, with just two releases under their belt the band have stormed festivals in Goa, plus Glastonbury, Bestival, V and Secret Garden Party, not to mention the biggest bass-music' festival in the world - Croatia's Outlook Festival.

Their records have all remained securely within the top 40 of the album reggae charts since release, garnering support from some of the UK's most prominent underground representatives including Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1) , David Rodigan (Kiss FM) and Don Letts (BBC Radio 6 music).

Gentleman's Dub Club have toured extensively, supporting a number of established artists like Roots Manuva, The Streets, The Wailers and Finlay Quaye.

Last year the band released the 'Open Your Eyes EP' on Ranking Records, which achieved No.1 in the iTunes reggae chart and has yet to leave the top 20.

Gentleman's Dub Club are: Jonathan Scratchley (vocals), Toby Davies (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals), Ed Thomas (keyboards, vocals), Matt Roberts (trumpet), Kieren Gallager (alto sax), Nick Tyson (guitar), Niall Lavell (percussion, samples), Tommy Evans (drums) and Harry Devenish (engineer).
