George Clooney and Cate Blanchett are set to team up to play post-war lovers in the thriller THE GOOD GERMAN.

Clooney is in talks about the project, and Blanchett has entered into negotiations to star in the film, which Steven Soderbergh will direct.

The movie follows an American journalist who is sent to cover the Allied summit meeting that will carve up control of Germany after World War II.

However, the reporter is secretly there to search for a lost love, and when the body of an American soldier washes up in the Russian zone, he is plunged into a murder mystery.

Clooney and Soderbergh are producing the project through their SECTION EIGHT PRODUCTIONS, according to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Production is expected to begin in September (05).
