Hollywood star George Clooney added another award to his collection after picking up the prestigious German Media Prize on Tuesday (26Feb13).

Fresh from winning a Best Picture Oscar on Sunday (24Feb13) as a producer of Argo, the actor jetted to Germany to receive the award in honour of his humanitarian efforts and political activism at a ceremony in Baden-Baden.

Long-time peace activist Clooney founded the advocacy organisation Not On Our Watch with fellow actors Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle to provide aid in places of international crises such as Darfur, Burma and Zimbabwe.

Germany's Federal Labour Minister Ursula von der Leyen praised Clooney for his courage, while British singer Birdy dedicated her hit People Help The People to the star.

Clooney is in good company as the latest recipient of the German Media Prize - previous honourees include former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
