George Clooney and Stacy Keibler allegedly ''hadn't had sex in months'' before their break-up.

The Hollywood hunk and the former WWE wrestler parted ways after just over two years of dating, allegedly calling it a day over the phone, and it is now being claimed the former couple were in the middle of a serious dry spell before their break-up.

A source told the upcoming issue of Us Weekly magazine: ''They hadn't had sex in months. He's been in Europe, and she's in LA, and they haven't seen each other in a long time. Some girls would be OK with that and just be happy dating George, but not her.''

The 52-year-old actor and Stacy, 33, are said to have ended their relationship on amicable terms, after drifting apart over the last three months, while George was in Europe working on a film and Stacy stayed in Los Angeles for her new TV show 'Supermarket Superstar'.

It has also been claimed former WWE wrestler Stacy was keen to tie the knot with George and start a family, while George wasn't ready to fully commit.

A second insider revealed: ''She knew he wasn't looking to get married. But there was always that fantasy that he would commit. Sadly, it just ran its course.''

Eternal bachelor George has dated a string of models and actresses in the past, including Elisabetta Canalis, Kelly Preston and LISA SNOWDON.

Italian beauty Elisabetta - who he split with in June 2011 - afterwards claimed they had been more like father and daughter in the latter part of their romance.

She said at the time: ''He has been special for me, and very important, just as a father would be. Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this until now.''
