George Clooney was one of a plethora of names who turned up to the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, the much-loved actor and director addressing attendees there for his new film 'The Ides Of March' at a press conference.

CBC reports that Clooney was in town for the picture that he directed and acted in alongside Ryan Gosling, with the Canadian also present at the press conference. The 50 year-old was additionally joined in Toronto by latest girlfriend and former WWE wrestler Stacey Keibler, The Daily Mail reporting a stunning reaction to her arrival, before talking to critics about the film that focuses on the story of a Democratic Governor with designs on the White House.

Speaking to a packed room, Clooney denied the film was making a specific political comment, arguing that it was a reflection of the times facing America at the moment, going on to say "If this film reflects some of the cynicism that's we've seen in recent times, that's probably good. It's not a bad thing to hold a mirror up and look at some of the things we're doing. It's not a bad thing to look at how we elect our officials."

The star went on to praise the film's younger star Gosling, commenting that "I think he knocks it out the park," while the 27 year-old was also effusive in his praise for his director; "George was possessed by this film . I just trusted him. I allowed him to take me into this world."
