George Clooney will marry Amal Alamuddin in Venice ''in a couple of weeks.''

The 53-year-old actor revealed he and the human rights lawyer, who have been dating since last September, are to tie the knot towards the end of this month at a secret venue in the Italian city.

Speaking during his acceptance speech at the Celebrity Fight Night event last night (07.09.14) in Tuscany, Italy, he told the audience: ''I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places.''

The 'Monuments Men' star and the 36-year-old beauty - who got engaged in April - were initially rumoured to be getting hitched at the hunk's villa in Lake Como, Italy, but it is believed he decided against the idea because the property is too well known and wouldn't provide enough privacy for their nuptials.

Meanwhile, the loved-up couple - who secured their marriage licence at Chelsea Town Hall in London last month - are planning to write their own wedding vows for the romantic ceremony and will exchange them in front of a handful of guests.

A source said previously: ''This is not going to be a huge Hollywood wedding with Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock flying in to Italy for a week...

''They want the wedding to be intimate with quiet but happy and fun dinners and lunches after they've said short but meaningful, hand-written vows in front of their loved ones.''

This wedding will be George's second after he married Talia Balsam in 1989 before divorcing her in 1993.
