Country music veteran George Jones celebrated his 80th birthday with a star-studded Nashville, Tennessee party on Tuesday (13Sep11).
The revered singer/songwriter and pal Travis Tritt took over Rippy's for the bash and then hit the Grand Ole Opry for a birthday celebration that included performances by Alan Jackson and the Oak Ridge Boys.
Jones, who turned 80 on Monday (12Sep11), was clearly moved by the turn-out.
He told Billboard.com, "It means everything. I'm just overwhelmed. It's great. Everybody has been so wonderful."
And he isn't about to slow down now he's in his 80s.
He added, "I would love to do a few albums with some different artists... I would love to do some duets again, maybe, like, some of the funny things that Ernest Tubb and Red Foley used to do years ago."
