Pop legend George Michael has promised to donate all the money he makes from new songs to charity.

The CARELESS WHISPER singer insists he's earned enough money and will release any future material on the internet, for free.

In return fans will be asked to make a donation to one of his favourite charities.

Michael said yesterday (10MAR04), "I've been very well remunerated for my talents over the years. I really don't need the public's money.

"I'd really like to have something on the internet which is a charitable donation optional site, where anyone can download my music for free.

"I'll have my favourite charities up there and people will hopefully contribute to that."

The 40-year-old said he came up with the idea after struggling to find inspiration for his new album PATIENCE - which is released next week (15MAR04).

He told British BBC radio presenter Jo Whiley, "I think this is going to be my last commercial, promoted release. This album nearly killed me."
