Pop legend George Michael has spoken out about the "loneliest time" in his life - when his gay lover died from AIDs and he feared that he had caught it from him.

The FAITH singer met Brazilian ANSELMO FELEPPA at a concert in Rio in 1991 and fell in love.

He was devastated to hear that Feleppa needed an AIDS test and recalls, "I remember looking at the sky saying, 'Don't you dare do this to me.'

"I went home to my family over Christmas and sat at the table not knowing whether my partner, who the people round the table did not know about, this man I was in love with, was terminally ill.

"It was possibly the loneliest time in my life."

Feleppa died in 1993 of an AIDS related illness.
