R+B star Gerald Levert has pleaded guilty to assault charges stemming from a confrontation with police during a February (05) traffic stop in Ohio.
Yesterday (27JUL05), Levert was fined $2,000 (GBP1,100) and put on probation for one year after he apologised in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and admitted to charges of assault and attempted obstruction of official business.
Police said the 39-year-old CASANOVA singer and a passenger in his car intervened when authorities stopped a friend of Levert's for speeding late at night.
Levert's pal, JAMES AUSTIN JR - who is said to have thrown a punch during the confrontation - pleaded guilty to a felony count of assault on a police officer and a misdemeanour count of attempted obstruction of official business.28/07/2005 09:17
