THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA star Gerard Butler wishes people would stop asking him if he's going to replace Pierce Brosnan as British superspy James Bond.

The 35-year-old shot to fame starring in the recent movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical, and doesn't feel he deserves to fill a role played by some of Britain's finest actors yet.

Butler says of rumours linking him to Bond, "I'm starting to get tired of hearing that but like what I always say, it's not true."
