Gerard Butler has been confirmed for the 'Olympus Has Fallen' sequel.

The actor will reprise his role as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the follow-up film to this year's thriller, 'London Has Fallen', which will be set in the English capital.

Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are also returning as the US President and the speaker of the US House of Representatives respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This time around the action is transported from the White House in Washington, D.C, to a London location where disaster strikes as the main characters attend the British Prime Minister's funeral.

A new director is being sought after Antoine Fuqua decided not to return, but Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger are once again writing the screenplay.

'Olympus Has Fallen' was a surprise international hit, grossing over $161 million worldwide, so a sequel seems like a safe bet.

There is no word yet when production will begin or what the film's expected release date is.

Butler has a busy year ahead with epic fantasy film 'Gods of Egypt' and is also in negotiations to star in 'The Raven'.
