American rocker Gerard Way has laughed off suggestions his band My Chemical Romance are in the business for "chicks, drugs and money". The WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE singer, who suffered from alcohol and painkiller dependency for many years, insists the group has a strong work ethic. The 30-year-old frontman says, "It's never been about that for this band. It's about doing the right thing. For better or worse, this band was born from a very hard emotional place. "We were never a normal band wanting lots of chicks, drugs and money. In a band like this you work hard and you suffer, but the rewards are much greater."
