Anderson: 'X-File Producers Thought I Was Not Sexy Enough'
Gillian Anderson was originally considered too plain to play AGENT DANA SCULLY in THE X FILES - but producers eventually cast her because she had the right academic look.
The petite 37-year-old actress won the part in the classic US TV show after the makers retracted their original demand for a voluptuous blonde, when they realised it would detract from the credibility of the hard-working detective.
Anderson explains, "They didn't think I looked sexy enough.
"They wanted a leggy blonde with big breasts, but it dawned on them that perhaps she wouldn't look studious enough for Scully.
"So they ended up picking me instead."
