Former X-FILES star Gillian Anderson was rushed to hospital yesterday (21JUL03) after falling down the stairs at her London, England home.
The 34-year-old was taken to the private CROMWELL HOSPITAL in west London by ambulance with suspected back and hip injuries after the accident in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Anderson shares a $2.25 million (GBP1.4 million) house in the capital's trendy Notting Hill with journalist Julian Ozanne, 38 - who followed the actress to hospital.
A witness at the Cromwell tells British tabloid the DAILY MIRROR, "She was clearly a little sedated and must have been on heavy painkillers. It appeared the paramedics were taking every precaution against worsening her injuries.
"However as she was carried into the hospital she did manage to smile at well-wishers.
"People appeared to recognise her immediately although she was terribly modest and a little embarrassed about the accident."
Doctors are awaiting the results of X-rays and tests carried out on the actress.
