Italian movie veteran Gina Lollobrigida has won a legal battle against her son over her $51 million (£30 million) estate.

In April (14), Milko Skofic, Jr. asked a judge to rule that Lollobrigida's estate should be managed by a court-appointed administrator because the 87-year-old actress was no longer capable of organising her own affairs.

A judge in Rome, Italy rejected the request on Wednesday (09Jul14) and ruled Lollobrigida was able to manage her finances, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.

The star's agent Paolo Cumin says, "(She) has no need for an administrator as she is, from a mental point of view, autonomous, coherent and lucid... Gina Lollobrigida is left with the profound bitterness of a mother having to face and fight this deeply sad occurrence."

Skofic, Jr. is the actress' only child from her first marriage to doctor Milko Skofic. They divorced in 1971 after 20 years of marriage.
