A story reporting that Bono was rushed to hospital in Monaco after suffering from heart problems is completely fabricated, according to a spokesperson for the singer. Initial speculation suggested the U2 frontman was hospitalized at the Princess Grace Memorial Hospital last week.
However, in a statement quoted by Reuters, the singer's spokesperson plays down the rumours, saying, "Bono has not suffered a recent health scare.Reports of being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in Sth of France". The spokesperson confirmed a sighting of the singer at the Princess Grace Hospital, but claimed he was only visiting for a routine check-up. The front-man is reportedly relaxing in France after his band wrapped up their record-breaking 360 tour. The acclaimed Irish group played the Glastonbury Festival in June, their first headlining appearance at the historical festival. It is not clear whether Bono has ever suffered from heart problems, although U2 were forced to postpone their North American tour in May 2010 after the singer began struggling with back problems. He eventually underwent surgery in Germany and the tour dates were rescheduled.
U2's 360 tour concluded in July 2011, with a reported total gross of $736 million and a total attendance of $7 million- both record setting figures for a single concert tour.
