Country star Glen Campbell has lashed out at his conviction for drink-driving, insisting he wasn't as inebriated as reported in the press.

The singer - who was arrested last November (03) near his Phoenix, Arizona home after causing a minor accident - pleaded guilty to extreme DUI charges and leaving the scene of an accident.

But Campbell, who entered jail yesterday (01JUL04) to begin a 10-day stint behind bars, has now defended himself against the conviction, telling TV show ACCESS HOLLYWOOD he was "just over-served" as opposed to really drunk.

The RHINESTONE COWBOY star has also been ordered to serve 75 hours of community service when he's released from prison.
