GRAMMY-winning producer and songwriter FREDDIE PERREN has died following a long illness. He was 61.

Perren, who died on 16 December (04) in Chatsworth, California, produced and wrote hit records for the JACKSON 5, Gloria Gaynor, THE SYLVERS and Peaches + HERB.

Perren worked at legendary record label Motown on the Jackson 5's first hits, including ABC and I WANT YOU BACK, and he coproduced Gaynor's I WILL SURVIVE, which one a Grammy in 1979.
