Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi made a long-awaited return to the stage Friday (04MAR05) - after years of legal problems and jail time.

The singer, dubbed the Mexican Madonna, was arrested in Brazil in 2000 after fleeing Mexico following allegations she and her manager SERGIO ANDRADE kidnapped and sexually abused young girls.

During her several years behind bars in Brazil, Trevi mysteriously fell pregnant and gave birth to her son ANGEL GABRIEL in February 2002. DNA tests later proved Andrade was the father.

After being extradited back to Mexico, Trevi was cleared of sex abuse charges last September (04).

Trevi was delighted to be performing again as she took to the stage in her hometown of Monterray in front of 8,000 fans.

Trevi shouted, "A lot of people thought this dream must be madness, but we are not crazy."

The star's US tour begins next month (01APR05) in Nevada.
