Kate Hudson decided to launch her new Fabletics range because she is more likely to be found in sportswear than designer gowns.
Kate Hudson prefers activewear to designer clothes.
The actress - who has sons Bingham, two, and Ryder, nine - says her busy lifestyle means she is most likely to reach for her trusty sweatpants and a vest top than an expensive Cavalli gown.
Asked whether she plans to design ready-to-wear after the success of her workout line Fabletics, Kate quipped: ''I look forward to designing all sorts of things. [But for now] as a mom, how often am I on a red carpet and how often do I wake up and take my kids to school? It's a no-brainer that I'll probably be wearing [activewear] more than I will a Cavalli dress.''
Kate - who previously branched out into fashion design by collaborating with Ann Taylor - hopes women will follow her lead and embrace her functional yet stylish new clothing range.
She said: ''I live in this type of wear. All day, I pretty much have something that I work out in or plan to work out in. [The idea is] for women to have athletic wear stylish enough that they can wear it all day.
''The fact that we are able to sell at [this] price [around $60 for an outfit] point with the materials we are using ... is just amazing. It is hard to find [activewear] at this affordable price.''
The 34-year-old star says her lifelong love of exercise was passed down from her fitness-fanatic mother Goldie Hawn.
She added in an interview with Fashionista: ''I've always been passionate about fitness and seen its effects on the longevity and vitality of [my mother]''.
