The musicians behind animated band Gorillaz will unveil themselves for the first time at a forthcoming British gig.

Until now the group - led by Blur frontman DAMON ALBARN - have only performed live behind a screen.

But they will step forward and show their faces for a series of concerts at the Manchester Opera House from 1 - 6 November (05), where they will be joined by former HAPPY MONDAYS singer Shaun Ryder and Roots Manuva.

The residency will form the launch of the new Manchester International Festival, which will take place in 2007.

Albarn says, "Manchester is in the centre of Britain. We are only going to do this once, so it makes sense to do it somewhere in the middle of the country."
