Former GUNS N' ROSES rockers Slash and Duff Mckagan became the latest stars to join Stone Temple Pilots as they performed with new frontman Chester Bennington at a charity gig on Thursday night (30May13).

Bennington was honoured by the MusiCares organisation at a special benefit show in Los Angeles on Thursday, and he showed off his latest collaboration with Stone Temple Pilots after recently stepping in to replace fired frontman Scott Weiland.

The group was joined by Slash and Duff MCKagan for a performance at the city's Club Nokia venue, where Bennington was handed the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his support of the organisation's MAP Fund, which gives musicians access to addiction recovery treatment.

Bennington says of the award, which was presented to him by his Linkin Park co-star Mike Shinoda, "It's an honour, it's a very cool thing. It feels good. It's nice to be recognised for something like this."

After the gig, Slash wrote in a post on his Twitter.com page, "Awesome time at Music Cares MAP Fund tonight. Jamming with Stp band & (Chester Bennington) & (Duff MCKagan) was a memorable moment for sure."

Weiland previously insisted he was "hurt" to hear Bennington had taken his place in Stone Temple Pilots, and the latest collaboration with Slash and MCKagan will be a further blow for the singer, as he previously played with them both in Velvet Revolver.
