Former GUNS N' ROSES rocker Slash is delighted fans now recognise him as a member of VELVET REVOLVER - instead of the guitarist from GUNS N' ROSES.

The 39-year-old guitarist quit world famous rock outfit - along with bassist Duff Mckagan and drummer MATT SORUM - during the nineties after becoming increasingly alienated from singer Axl Rose.

The music veterans have now teamed up with lead singer Scott Weiland from the Stone Temple Pilots to form their new band Velvet Revolver.

Slash says, "A lot of the younger people coming to the gigs have never seen GUNS N' ROSES, or even STONE TEMPLE PILOTS for that matter.

"I'm very proud of my heritage, but the other day an 18-year-old came up to me and recognised me as 'Slash from the Velvet Revolver' and that was the coolest thing that's happened to me in a long while."

The band's first album CONTRABAND was released in June (04) and went straight in at number one in the US, selling over one million copies in the first month.
