Channing Tatum and Zoe Saldana have signed on for animated flick 'Book of Life'.

The 'Magic Mike' actor and the 'Star Trek' beauty will voice the lead characters in the Guillermo Del Toro-produced movie, which will also feature Diego Luna and Christina Applegate.

The plot focuses on Manolo, a boy who is torn between the expectations of his family and following his dreams. He embarks upon a journey across three magical worlds, during which he comes face-to-face with his biggest fears, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jorge Gutierrez is directing the movie and also wrote the screenplay with the help of Doug Langdale.

'Brokeback Mountain' and 'Babel's GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA is composing the film's original score and soundtrack, which is said to provide ''a fresh take on popular pop songs''.

The cast will be rounded out with Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo and Placido Domingo, as well as Ana de la Reguera ('Eastbound and Down'), Eugenio Derbez ('Instructions Not Included'), comedian Gabriel Iglesias ('Stand-Up Revolution'), radio personality Ricardo Sanchez and Danny Trejo.

While Tatum is voicing Superman in Warner Bros.' upcoming 'Lego Movie', this will be Saldana's first animated film role.

'Book of Life' is scheduled for release on October 17, 2014.
