Gwen Stefani has ended 50 CENT's nine-week run at the top of the US singles chart to become only the third act to hit number one on the BILLBOARD Hot 100 this year (05).

The NO DOUBT star's HOLLABACK GIRL has jumped from three to one, with 50 Cent's CANDY SHOP slipping from one to three. The rapper's collaboration with The Game, HATE IT OR LOVE IT, holds steady at number two.

Meanwhile, Coldplay become only the second British group in the Hot 100's history to debut in the top 10 - they're new release SPEED OF SOUND enters the chart at number eight. The only other British group to perform such a feat was THE Beatles.

The track is also the highest debut on the chart since Fantasia's I BELIEVE entered at number one last summer (JUL04).

The White Stripes also record a career best on the chart - their new single BLUE ORCHID debuts at number 43.
