Gwyneth Paltrow swears by Bloody Marys to cure her hangovers.

The actress believes The Hair of the dog is an ideal cure for a sore head after a heavy night out, but particularly a Bloody Mary, or Red Snapper as it is known in St Regis in New York.

Writing in her GOOP newsletter, she said: "Perhaps the least healthy choice, but sometimes unavoidable - at times, just a little of last night's Poison does the trick."

Just in time for New Year's Eve (31.12.11), the mother-of-two shared her recipe for the beverage, which she refers to as 'The Classic', which contains vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and Worcestershire sauce.

But Gwyneth - who is married to Coldplay singer Chris Martin - also swears by "the Mexican version" of the drink, which contains a Corona beer, tomato juice, clam juice, lemon, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce.

She added: "This is the perfect hangover drink for the beach. It's a Mexican classic that can easily be re-created all over the world."

During a talk show appearance last year, Gwyneth admitted she drinks "a lot" and she classes red wine as one of her favoured tipples.

She said: "Red wine is my favourite, but I'll drink white, rosé... Guinness is my favourite beer. I like a dirty vodka martini. I'm just a lush, basically."
