Halle Berry has become the latest star to tackle the story of Hannibal as the producer of a new mini-series about the 264 B.C. African military leader.
The Oscar winner has teamed up with History channel and A+E Studios executives to adapt the story for the small screen.
She says, "Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live, he may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride and I’m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History."
The project will chart the future general's upbringing in Carthage and his efforts in the Second Punic War, during which he led his nation against Rome.
Alexander Siddig previously portrayed Hannibal on the small screen and Victor Mature portrayed the general on the big screen in 1959, while Vin Diesel has been attempting to get a Hannibal project off the ground for years.
