Pop band Hanson, who rose to prominence in the 1990's with their infectious tune 'MmmPop', are moving into the beer industry and will launch their own Indian pale ale next year, according to E! Online.
The musical brothers, Taylor, Isaac and Zac, made the announcement while visiting Oxford University on Monday (November 28, 2011), and also revealed the rather predicable name of their beer: MmmHop. Zac explained, "We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I'm not joking. MmmHop Ipa anyone?". Although often deemed one hit wonders, the group actually enjoyed enormous commercial success with their debut album Middle of Nowhere and earned three Grammy Award nominations. After a conflict over creative input, the group left Island Def Jam Music Group and set up their own label 3cg Records - they have to date sold 16 million records worldwide and have had eight Top 40 singles in the UK and six in the US.
On last week's UK version of The X Factor, Irish songstress Janet Devlin sang the boy's hit 'Mmmbop' during 'Guilty Pleasures' week but forgot the words halfway through - singing the same line over and over again. She was subsequently eliminated despite once being the overwhelming favourite to win the competition.
