The Blade Runner sequel could yet see Harrison Ford reprise his role as Rick Deckard, according to director Ridley Scott. Ford has previously spoken of his desire to appear in the movie, though sources have suggested he would not play a major role, like in the 1982 classic.
While promoting his forthcoming movie 'Prometheus', Scott briefly discussed his plans for a sequel to Blade Runner, telling the UK's Independent newspaper, "I don't think it'll be Harry [starring].But I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing". It emerged earlier this year that Ford was in talks for the new movie, which will star a female protagonist at its core. The Hollywood star, now 69, played the lead role in the 1982 movie about an overpopulated future Los Angeles that never sees sunlight. Deckard is tasked with hunting down a gang of android outlaws who have escaped to Earth from a far-off colony.
The sequel is not expected until 2014, with Scott currently busy promoting 'Prometheus' which is due to hit theaters next week. He will then begin work on his next film, 'The Counselor', with Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz, with 'Blade Runner 2' likely to follow.
