Jazz crooner Harry Connick Jr rescued a dying man who had been stranded on his New Orleans porch since Hurricane Katrina flooded the city last month (AUG05).

The New Orleans-native return to the drowned city in a boat to inspect the damage to his father's house when he discovered the stricken man.

He says, "He had been there for three days without food or water, so was really weak and hardly moving. It was a miracle that I saw him at all.

"I carried him to our boat and found an ambulance to take him to hospital. He's fine now."
