Harvey Weinstein, who in the past has invested in Broadway productions and has producer credit on such stage shows as The Producers, Billy Elliot, and All Shook Up , is preparing to make The Weinstein Company a full-fledged Broadway production company, the New York Post reported today, citing an unnamed source. According to the newspaper, the Weinsteins are planning to use eight to ten movies that they have produced as source material for the shows and are already in production on Finding Neverland, a musical based on a 2004 Miramax movie about J.M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan. Two other Miramax movies are also slated for stage adaptations Chocolat and Cinema Paradiso . Weinstein Co. COO David Glasser confirmed the plans to the Post . "Instead of investing in other shows," he said, "it's about original shows out of our shop."
