Jessica Alba ''completely freaked out'' when her daughter ate her nappy.

The 'Sin City' actress was not prepared for her daughter Honor - now five - to keep putting things in her mouth when she was a baby and panicked when she started trying to eat her underwear, which could have been very harmful to her.

She told Usmagazine.com: ''My kid's diaper exploded. All of a sudden, these beads were in her mouth. And I was calling my mom, and I was like, 'What happened? What do I do? What is this made out of?' I called my pediatrician. I called 911. I completely freaked out.''

Jessica - who also has another daughter, Haven, two, with husband Cash Warren - was worried her children could have an adverse reaction to some of the products used to make the nappies, and contacted the company to find out what was in them, but didn't get satisfactory results. That and another incident involving her daughters and laundry detergent inspired her to start her own business, The Honest Company, which supplies only safe, effective, affordable, eco-friendly products.

Jessica, 32, also says her children have made her less of a control freak and taught her how to compromise.

She added: ''I was much more of a control freak before [becoming a parent], probably. You kind of have to roll with the punches and be a little more easygoing with parenthood. I was like, 'I'll never have toys in my living room!' Yeah, right.''
