Emma Thompson is set to follow in Helen Mirren's royal footsteps after signing up to play The Queen in a new British TV drama.
The Oscar-winning actress will portray Her Royal Highness in the project, Walking The Dogs, which is centred around intruder Michael Fagan's infamous meeting with The Queen at her London home, Buckingham Palace, in July, 1982.
Unemployed Fagan, then-31, spent 10 minutes chatting with The Queen in her bedroom after illegally gaining entrance to the palace's private chambers.
He was charged with the theft of a bottle of wine and committed for psychiatric evaluation. The theft charge was later dropped at Fagan spent six months in a mental hospital.
Tyrannosaur actor Eddie Marsan will portray Fagan, while Russell Tovey will play the part of a palace guard who steps off duty to walk the Queen's dogs in the film.
